Libraries

Are you the children’s library director of Parkway Central Library or Logan Branch free library? If so, consider hiring Ran’d Shine – Magician in Philadelphia for your next event. Magicians are quiet and entertaining. We have a canny way of encouraging children to read and learn. You can’t imagine how children focus when they have a magician directing them. Libraries are designed to give the public access to free information. A magician can work in tandem by adding value to books. If something is worth vanishing and reappearing, it is equated to value. Once a book reappears in front of a child’s eyes they will cover it.

Children’s Magic

Children’s magic is its own genre within the magic community.  This genre is characterized by PG magic tricks that are designed to entertain and educate within a safe environment.  There isn’t one child on the planet that doesn’t like magic.  If a child seems hesitant or unsure, we take the time to teach them a magic trick or two.  If you have any children’s books with a magic or super power theme, a magic performance can add to the experience.  Our fees are very economical and should work within your given budget.  It would be our pleasure to extend a complimentary consultation and work out the details.

Interactive and Volunteers

Children’s magic is known to be extremely interactive.  When children are engaged, they are prone to use their critical thinking skills.  Interactive magic is more entertaining and helps to hold the attention span of little people.  In children’s magic, the spectator is limited and the volunteer is engaged.  We will make sure that each child in attendance has an opportunity to volunteer and participate.  During our performance, positive association is made between entertainment and reading.  A magician can facilitate learning and enjoyment.  Usually children associate going to the library and reading with a negative or restrictive experience.  We do our best to shift their paradigm through entertainment.

Mentalism and Critical Thinking Skills

Mentalism is a form of magic in which the performer gives the impression that she can read minds.  For instance, guessing the word that the spectator is thinking of.  We use timed and repetitive suggestion to achieve success with mentalism.  When this genre is utilized it enhances the spectator’s critical thinking skills.  We want to maintain an air of mystery but at the same time we will allow children to participate in solving it.  In this way mentalism is used to enhance children’s critical thinking skills.  It’s fun to believe in magic and the fantasies that lie in books.

Production, Vanish and Transformation

Production is a genre within the field of magic in which something is produced from nothing.  In this case, we would produce a book or physical representation of a character from a book from thin air.  The vanish genre is characterized by making an object vanish.  If the story is about a wizard, we can make a crystal ball or stuffed version of the wizard disappear.  Transformation involves turning one object into another.  We can transform an evil witch into a good witch.  All of these tactics are used to engage, stimulate and encourage learning.
